CONTEST/POOL! Let's get serious about NASCAR. Pot is currently at $4400!

The General

Another Day, Another Dollar
WHO is in for a couple bills? Here are the rules and I will run this baby all year.

I would love to get 20 persons and hopefully a little added $$ on top from a sponsor.

NASCAR 2006 RACING LEAGUE RULES

1. You have 10 million dollars to pick and maintain eight (8) drivers.
2. You cannot go over 10 million dollars and you must pick eight (8) drivers.
3. You are allotted 4 trades per half (36 races this year).
4. Trade deadline is 10:30 a.m. each Thursday before any race.
a.) Exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.

5. Points: Each driver is awarded points in the order of finishing each race: (180 for 1st place and on down.) Your team points are an accumulation of these points scored by your drivers each race. Points will always be taken from http://www.nascar.com in both the Official and Unofficial format. Additional points are awarded to each of your drivers when:
a.) Lead one lap = +5 bonus points
b.) Leads most laps = +5 bonus points

6. If you have a driver that fails to qualify for a race, you get zero points for that driver for that race.

7. Every race will have a winning team and two token teams.
a.) The team with the highest weekly points total wins.
b.) The second highest score receives second place token
c.) The third highest score receives third place token.
d.) Ties always split that positions winnings.

8. Cumulative team points totals will determine halfway winners 1st thru 5th and year-end winners 1st thru 10th.
a.) A prize money breakdown will be published after the numbers of team entries are finalized.

9. There will be a $20.00 entry fee per team and a $5.00 per week charge for each race. This is a $200 nine-month commitment. If you choose to participate in this pool, please have the courtesy to follow thru and pay your debt.

10. Teams that cannot fulfill their pool dues obligations from prior years:
a.) Will be ?blacklisted? as individuals.
b.) Those individuals on the blacklist will not be invited or allowed to participate in any future NASCAR Pools.
c.) This needs to be done for fairness to the individuals who pay their dues responsibly.

11. Throughout the season, drivers may be injured, fired, suspended or an entire team is disbanded.
a.) A free trade will be offered for the following circumstances: firing, injury or disbanded team.
b.) A free trade WILL NOT be offered for a suspended driver. You must use one of your accumulative trades.
c.) Listed are a few examples where free trades are allowed:
i. Mark Martin takes too much Viagra and cannot get behind the wheel, injured. John Wood, rookie long shot with minimal value, is named to drive temporarily. You have the choice to stay with the temporary driver, less value than permanent driver, or exercise a ?free? trade staying within the 10 million dollars.
ii. Kyle Petty realizes he can no longer drive (surprised?), is fired by his own father and a more expensive driver replaces him. As long as the driver is temporary, even though the replacement puts you over $10 million, you can keep him. If that same driver, or any other is permanent and you are still over $10 million, then you must trade to get back to $10 million, even if you have no trades left.
iii. A full time team decides it can?t afford to make all of the remaining races and disbands. At that time a free trade will be allowed staying within the $10 million limit. Disbanded teams MUST be replaced within the $10 million limit.

12. All entries must be submitted (TBD). Submit teams to The General. Please direct all payments to (TBD)

13. Prize list will be published after all teams have been submitted.
14. Driver list and value attached

I may revise the rules slightly as far as half winners and no more than 1 weekly winner. Payouts will be revised accordingly to meet the better needs of the contest.

Last year you had close to 40 people who said they would be in and then when it came time to Post they all Cun ted up.

That being said, I will most likely play if it does go.

I'd be interested Pete. I didn't read through all the rules but I'd like to just send in the two hundy and not have to worry about 5 buck this or twenty buck that.

Thanks

so, all I have to do is pick 8 guys and keep it under 10 mil?

If that's pretty much all I have to do then count me in.

That's it shortbus and you are alotted 4 trades each half of the season (18) races if your drivers aren't performing to your expectations.

NOTE: Trades do not carry over to the last 18 races.

Hopefully prior to the Daytona 500, although I have no problem leaving that race out for a couple reasons. It is hard for some to understand the requirements to Make the 500 and it is a race where the big one makes for a bad deal for some players. With that said, I am going to allow for teams to be made-up AFTER the field is set for the 500.

General, considering we get 20 people, what would be the breakdown for payoffs at the end of the season & weekly with a sponsors funds included......??

Thanks

I'm on vacation (and possibly won't have net access) from Feb 10th-18th, so I think that makes it incompatible..

If the dates get re-arranged, or you'll be set before Friday (realistically Thursday, I leave about 4pm/11am eastern Friday) then I'd play.

Kewl Santo, if I can get 15, I will go with it and you can be 16. 16 will make a lot of fun too!

okay, count me in but I should get odds or something. Just so you know, me playing in a nascar pool is like my wife picking an ncaa tournament bracket based on team colors and mascots. I have no clue.

I'm going to get some help though, and kick ya'lls butts!

Nascar:doh1 who really watches this stuff anyway? All they do is go around and around and around. And if I get hooked on this stupid sport I'll never hear the end of it, not to mention the fact that it will make me the biggest hipocrite on planet earth.

When do I send in my money and how?

My wife picks my team. She watches every NASCAR race. It makes it fun for me cause I check with her during the race to see how our boys are doing.

the cure is to go to a race.:+hitting-

so I have heard. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to cure myself though.

A couple of girls in my office and their husbands are die hard nascar fans. I'm gonna ask them tomorrow to give me their opinions, though I think I can do alright winging it.

I agree...Once you go to a race you appreciate it and are Hooked...

Actually dirty it didn't work for me. I have been to 2 races(and only bet on two). 1st time was ok as the two bets I made gave me some rooting action but was still not that great. 2nd time rented the radio so that helped but it is not for me.

Got my lineup picked out and am ready to go.

C'mon good people. We don't need anything more than your willingness to play and your willingness to send off $200 to get in for 9 months of NASCAR fun.

Who's next?
