EOG College Basketball Preview: Florida State Seminoles vs Florida Gators
While college football betting fanatics will be looking forward to the clash of these two teams on the gridiron this week, it's basketball wagering fans that will get a chance to dig into all of the action on Tuesday night when the Florida State Seminoles (3-0, 0-0 ATS) lock horns with the Florida Gators (3-0, 1-1 ATS) from the O'Connell Center in Gainesville. Both of these teams come into this NCAA basketball betting battle at 3-0, but neither has been tested as of yet.
Florida State is still trying to figure out how to replace the offensive firepower of G Toney Douglas, who is now playing with the New York Knicks. So far this season, a variety of players have stepped up for HC Leonard Hamilton, as G Deividas Dulkys, C Solomon Alabi, F Xavier Gibson, and F Ryan Reid are all averaging double digits in scoring. If there's one thing that the Noles certainly don't lack, it is a strong defense. Florida State betting aficionados are going to love the presence of bigs like Alabi, Gibson, Reid, and F Chris Singleton in the post, as those four players have already come up with a total of 26 blocks in just three games this year. FSU comes into this game ranked #7 in the land in field goal percentage (54.7%) and #1 in opposing field goal percentage (25.8%).
The Gators may be 3-0 on the season, but wins against Stetson, Georgia Southern, and Troy aren't exactly against quality opponents. However, Florida has racked up three victories by at least 20 points this season and can't be taken for granted. After missing the NCAA Tournament last season, Florida is hungry to return to the field of 65. In order to do better against the college basketball betting lines, the Gators are going to have to shoot better in general. The blue and orange are only converting on 42.4% of their shots from the field and 24.6% from downtown. However, much like Florida State, UF's defense has been stellar this year, holding opponents to just 32.4% from the field and 17.5% from beyond the arc.
In last season's NCAA hoops gambling affair between these teams, the Seminoles captured a 57-55 victory in Tallahassee. Florida State has beaten the college basketball betting line in five straight meetings. Tonight, Florida has been lined as five point basketball gambling favorites.
