EOG NFL Sports Betting Preview: Philadelphia Eagles vs San Diego Chargers
A crucial game that may determine a playoff place takes place in southern California on Sunday afternoon when the San Diego Chargers (5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS) host the Philadelphia Eagles (5-3 SU, 5-3 ATS) in a sports gambling showdown. Philadelphia is coming off of a disappointing 20-16 NFL betting loss at the hands of Dallas, while the Chargers registered a thrilling 21-20 football wagering victory thanks to an 18 yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Vincent Jackson with 21 seconds left.
With RB Brian Westbrook sitting out due to lingering effects from a concussion, the Eagles offense struggled to find a rhythm against the Cowboys defense last Sunday night. QB Donovan McNabb seemed to be particularly affected as he did not play the way that Philadelphia betting fanatics have come to expect. McNabb was pressured much of the site and was sacked four times by the Cowboys defense. Through the air, McNabb only completed 16 of 30 passes for 227 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Rookie RB LeSean McCoy did a respectable job in place of Westbrook, but the youngster from Pitt just isn't as explosive as the veteran. On the night, McCoy carried the ball 13 times for 54 yards and caught five passes for 61 yards. TE Brent Celek caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown but neither he nor any Philly WR managed more than 50 yards on the evening.
Once again, the Chargers struggled to run the ball, but QB Philip Rivers bailed them out to give San Diego betting enthusiasts the winning ticket. Rivers completed 24 of 36 passes for 209 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Giants defense in the Chargers' NFL wagering win. Rivers is having another good season despite having the worst running game in the league, completing 60.6% of his passes for 2245 yards with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. RB LaDainian Tomlinson looks like he may be starting to wear down after eight fantastic seasons with San Diego. Tomlinson only has 289 yards rushing and three touchdowns this season and was held to just 22 yards on 12 carries against the Giants. Tomlinson has yet to even crack 75 yards in a game this year and is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry.
Pro football gambling odds show the Chargers as a slim one point favorite in this game with a total of 47 points.
