EOG NBA Sports Betting Preview: Phoenix Suns vs Houston Rockets
NBA betting action heads to the Lone Star State on Tuesday night for the premier matchup between the Phoenix Suns (9-2, 6-5 ATS) and the Houston Rockets (6-4, 7-3 ATS). This will be the first basketball wagering duel between these Western Conference rivals in the '09-'10 season. Last year, Houston won the season series two games to one, but Phoenix owned the 2-1 advantage on the sports gambling line.
The Suns have the best record in basketball thanks to their high-octane, up tempo offense. They're averaging 110.4 points per game and have put up at least 100 points in all of their games this season. Six players are averaging double digits in scoring, led by C Amare Stoudemire's 19.2 points per game. PG Steve Nash is having another MVP-type start to his season, as he is second in the team in scoring (17.6 per game) and is leading the team in assists with 11.5 per game. Phoenix has failed to cover back-to-back NBA wagering lines after covering four straight on an East Coast swing. In their most recent outing on Sunday, the Suns dropped the Raptors 101-100.
Meanwhile, the Rockets have also been one of the pleasant surprises of the '09-'10 basketball betting season. They're coming off of a massive 101-91 victory in Los Angeles against the defending champs, which quickly erased the memory of a bad 109-100 loss in Sacramento on Friday. This will be Houston's first home game since a 104-79 victory against the Grizzlies. They are 4-0 ATS at the Toyota Center this season, including ATS victories against both the Lakers and the Trail Blazers. Even though neither G Tracy McGrady nor C Yao Ming is at HC Rick Adelman's disposal, Houston is finding ways to put points on the board. Prized free agent acquisition F Trevor Ariza has been clutch for Rockets betting fans, as he is leading the team with 18.4 points per game. G Aaron Brooks isn't far behind at 18.3 per game. Since being held to 87 points in the first NBA gambling affair of the season against Portland, Houston has scored at least 100 points in all of its games.
The oddsmakers have lined the Rockets as slender 2.5-point favorites on the sports wagering line. The basketball gambling 'total' has been set at 221.5. The Suns are 16-5 ATS in the L/21 meetings between these two teams.
