written November 20, 2009

(Las Vegas, NV) - Riding four winning NFL picks, Steve Fezzik has moved to the semifinals of the Leroy's Money Talks Invitational where he will face defending champ Ken "The Shrink" Weitzner. Friday, sports handicapping opposites square off when consummate professional Adam Meyer takes on Vegas amateur Dave Hochman at Hooters Casino Hotel in the $80,000 winner-take all sports handicapping contest.

Fezzik is the quintessential Las Vegas sports player and is entered in every major handicapping contest. He is a two-time Stardust Invitational finalist. A graduate of Northwestern University, he left his job as a vice president and actuary for a major insurance company in 2001 to be a full-time sports bettor. His 4-3 card out-pointed Tim Trushel, founder and lead handicapper for www.sportsmemo.com, who posted a 3-3-1 mark with a Lions (+17) push keeping him out of the winner's circle.

Meyer has touted himself as the favorite in this season's Money Talks tournament. Meyer, one of the genre's top self-promoters ( www.adamwins.com), sports a 70 percent win for KNBR Radio in San Francisco over the past three years and is regular handicapper for EPSN2 and the Fox Sports networks. He won his opening match 4-3 over Sal Selvaggio of Maddux Sports (2-5). Hochman, who makes a living as a youth sports official, tied Wayne Peters (3-5) in his opener, and then posted the tourney's only perfect card to move to the second round.

So far this Money Talks season, the contestants have posted a solid 84-64-3 record with 10 out of 22 Best Bets cashing in.

Second round match ups are as follows, with first round records:

Adam Meyer (4-3) v. Dave Hochman (3-4 tie, 7-0) -- Nov. 20

StatFox Steve (2-5) v. Lance Blankenship (5-2 tie, 2-4-1) - Nov. 27

Semifinal #1 The Shrink (3-4, 5-2) vs. Fezzik (6-1, 4-3) - Dec. 4

The unique "Money Talks" is the largest event of its kind in Nevada and features well-known handicappers who put up $5,000 each in the match play, bracketed tournament...one loss and you're done. The $80,000 prize will be determined in the Dec. 18 finals.

Match winners are determined by the best record on seven college and/or pro picks against the spread or totals. A "best-bet" designated among each player's picks will settle any ties. Full brackets and the season's picks can be seen at www.leroys.com, click on contests.

The tournament will be broadcast each Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. on Leroy's Sports Hour, hosted by John Kelly, a 20-year veteran of Las Vegas sports radio. Pete & Shorty's Book and Bar inside Hooters Casino Hotel 115 E. Tropicana (across for the MGM) is the new venue and the show can be heard on KLAV 1230-AM in Las Vegas and podcast at www.leroys.com.
