EOG College Football Sports Betting Preview: Ohio State Buckeyes vs Michigan Wolverines
One of the nation's top rivalries kicks off Saturday college football betting action when the Ohio State Buckeyes (9-2 SU, 8-3 ATS) take on the Michigan Wolverines (5-6 SU, 4-6 ATS) in a CFB wagering affair. Ohio State is coming off of a narrow 27-24 victory against Iowa that gave them the Big 10 title, while Michigan's 45-24 sports wagering loss at Wisconsin left them needing a win against the Buckeyes in order to be bowl eligible.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a lot of success this decade, but last week's win against the Iowa Hawkeyes clinched Jim Tressel's first ever trip to the Rose Bowl. Ohio State has had a mercurial season and a lot of criticism has been bestowed upon both Tressel and QB Terrelle Pryor, but at the end of the year the Buckeyes did win at least a share of their fifth straight Big 10 title. Against the Hawkeyes last Saturday, QB Terrelle Pryor was mostly held in check by the staunch Iowa defense. Pryor only threw for 93 yards and ran for just 29 yards in Ohio State's win. RB Brandon Saine was one of the stars on the afternoon with 11 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while RB Daniel Herron carried the ball 32 times for 97 yards and a touchdown. Ohio State's three point overtime win wasn't enough to cover the NCAA wagering odds last week though.
Michigan hung tough with a good Wisconsin squad for the first half in Camp Randall, but John Clay and the Badgers offense was too much for Michigan as the Wolverines were outscored by 17 in the second half. The once stolid Wolverines' defense was a big part of why Michigan suffered the CFB betting loss, giving up 469 yards, 28 first downs, and six touchdowns to the Badgers. QB Tate Forcier was effective in the Wolverines' NCAA football betting loss, completing 20 of 26 passes for 188 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. WRs Roy Roundtree and Vincent Smith were the top targets and had virtually identical numbers with Roundtree catching seven passes for 56 yards and a touchdown and Smith catching seven passes for 54 yards and a TD. Michigan's running game was stifled all game though, carrying the ball 32 times for a scant 71 yards.
Ohio State is an 11.5 point road favorite in this rivalry game per the NCAA gambling odds and the total for the game has been set at 48 points.
