Duke LogoCollege Basketball Preview: Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Duke Blue Devils

Madison Square Garden will be the site of Preseason NIT betting action on Wednesday night.  As a part of the festivities, the Duke Blue Devils (4-0, 2-1 ATS) will clash with the Arizona State Sun Devils (4-0, 1-2 ATS).  Both teams have started off the season without a loss SU, but neither has taken on the quality of opponent that they will be facing at MSG in this tournament.

Basketball betting fans are becoming accustomed to the Dookies beating the pants off of lesser opponents, and so far this season, they haven't been disappointed.  Thus far in four home games, Duke's average margin of victory has been an economical 34.6 points per game.  No one has gotten closer than 24 points in a game this year.  However, Radford, Coastal Carolina, UNC Greensboro, and UNC Charlotte aren't exactly quality foes unlike the team it will face on Wednesday.  Every single person on the team is shooting at least 45% from the field this year, an incredibly impressive statistic.  F Kyle Singler and G Jon Scheyer are expected to lead the way offensively for Duke betting gamblers this season and at the moment they are averaging a combined 34.7 PPG.

HC Herb Sendek is hoping that this is another NCAA Tournament year for his Sun Devils.  His team has gotten off to a fantastic start this year thanks to a smoldering defense that is only averaging allowing 52.8 points per basketball betting affair this year.  Opposing squads are converting on just 33.9% of their shots from the field.  C Eric Boateng is leading the defensive charge, as he has already recorded six steals and three blocks in four games played this year.  He is also second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game.  Offensively, the team is paced by F Richard Kuksiks, who is averaging 13.8 points per game after averaging 10.3 a year ago.  ASU gambling fans have watched the team score at least 84 points in three of its four games this year, with the only dud coming in the form of a 52-49 victory over TCU on November 17th.

The oddsmakers are expecting to see the Dookies get a bit of a challenge in this one, but they are still comfortable college basketball betting favorites at -9.  Duke hasn't taken on a Pac-10 team since the 2002 season, while this will be the first time that Arizona State has engaged in an NCAA basketball gambling battle since 1999 against Virginia.
